Esmeraldas Pedestrian Bridge Retrofitting, Ecuador
|
A project for structural reinforcement of a pedestrian bridge was implemented in Esmeraldas city under the AdaptaClima project. The project focused on structural reinforcement of a pedestrian bridge connecting Roberto Luis Cervantes Island to the mainland. This project is part of an early warning system for flooding. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE) with support from CAF as the implementing entity and UNDP as the executing entity. The reinforced bridge now serves as a critical evacuation route, significantly improving community safety during floods. This initiative is a good practice due to its comprehensive approach to disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation, ensuring community involvement and resilience of community infrastructure. The budget for the project was US$60,440. Click to Read |
