Guyana’s National Drainage and Irrigation Strategy 2030
|
The National Drainage and Irrigation Strategy 2030 is based on three main pillars: Governance and National Participation, Data and Data Management Systems, and Infrastructure Planning, Maintenance, and Financing. It has a comprehensive roadmap that emphasizes the importance of inclusive and transparent governance, the need for reliable data and innovative technologies, and the significance of modern, sustainable infrastructure to support our agricultural sector and protect our communities. The pillars not only demonstrate the government’s commitment to equitable development but also highlight dedication to empowering all stakeholders, including indigenous populations, farmers, and local authorities, to actively participate in shaping our shared future. This strategy results from extensive consultation, evidence-based decision-making, and the collective efforts of our technical experts, development partners, and communities. It sets ambitious, yet achievable and forward-looking goals that will enhance ability to respond to climate change, adopt new technologies, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our drainage and irrigation systems. |
