A Compendium of Case Studies on Disaster Resilient Housing and Facilities is a knowledge product that has been developed at the request of the G20 South Africa Presidency. It is third in a series of compendiums, which have been developed by CDRI as a leading knowledge partner for the G20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group, since its inception. This compendium has 26 detailed case studies on housing and facilities such as community shelters and schools covering 18 countries.

These case studies have been submitted by G20 countries, invited countries and invited organisations including CDRI’s knowledge partners. The compendium covers diverse themes such as owner-driven initiatives, large-scale housing programmes, post-disaster recovery and retrofitting initiatives and other policy and financial enablers. The compendium will strengthen the agenda of the G20 DRR Working Group, which is to consolidate and disseminate knowledge to empower developing countries including LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS to plan and invest in DRI as a cornerstone of a sustainable future. The compendium will prove useful to a variety of stakeholders and will inform disaster resilient housing and facilities practices globally.
