India faces a growing threat from heatwaves, which disproportionately affect vulnerable, low-income settlements with thermally inadequate housing. In response, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a 2025 advisory to guide states and Union Territories (UTs) in implementing a tiered framework for heatwave protection.
