Haiti Earthquake: Lessons for Disaster Resilience of Infrastructure

About The Event

Join us for a critical discussion on the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake, which measured 7.0 on the Richter Scale and resulted in approximately 230,000 fatalities, over 300,000 injuries, and the displacement of more than 1.5 million people. The disaster caused an estimated $7.8 billion in damages—equivalent to 120% of Haiti’s GDP[1]—highlighting the urgent need for stronger infrastructure resilience and sustainable recovery measures.

This discussion will dive into the structural failures, policy gaps, and urgent lessons needed to build disaster-resilient infrastructure for the future.

Date: Thursday, 27 March
Time: 8:00 – 9:00 PM IST
