Assessment of Climate Change Impacts and Risks on Existing and Planned Federal Road and Rail Infrastructure – AdaptaVias

The AdaptaVias Project is an effort undertaken by the Ministry of Transportation (MT), within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Brazil, which has the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), and is executed by the partnership formed between Gitec Brasil and the Transportation Engineering Program of Coppe/UFRJ, within the scope of ProAdapta.

The AdaptaVias Project proposes to conduct an assessment of the impacts and risks of climate change on the existing and projected federal land transportation infrastructure (highways and railways). This survey will provide support for decision-making regarding adaptation to the impacts caused by climate change.
