About The Event
Hurricane Beryl struck the Eastern Caribbean in July 2024, significantly impacting the region. The most widespread damage was observed in the countries of Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Saint Lucia, and Jamaica[1][2][3]. The damage was widespread along with the economic impact in the affected island countries of Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and Grenada. The dialogue will focus on how infrastructure failures impacted lives and livelihoods in the affected geographies; response and recovery measures leading to improved resilience of infrastructure and the emergent recommendations.
The DRI Dialogue is part of the Learning from Disaster Series – which have earlier focused on learnings from the 2023 Turkey Earthquake[4], 2015 Nepal Earthquake, and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake[5].
